ABOUT COACH JESS

Jess Falborn is an IFBB Women’s Physique Pro, Certified Nutritionist, Personal Trainer, and CrossFit Coach. She spent the first 10 years of her career working in sales and lobbying in Washington, DC, before making the leap into the health and fitness space and starting her own business. 

Jess grew up in sports, playing softball, running track, and playing soccer and lacrosse throughout her high school career. After deciding not to pursue sports at the collegiate level while at University of Delaware, Jess felt a void and knew she had to fill it with athletics. In her 20s, she dabbled in BJJ and Krav Maga, and learned the basics of weight training. She quickly fell in love with hypertrophy-style training and powerlifting.

After leaving her full time career as a Lobbyist in 2018, Jess earned her CF L-1 and began coaching CrossFit and Powerlifting. In 2019 she competed in her first bodybuilding show, placing first. Jess immediately knew she had found her home as an athlete. In 2020, she competed at Jr. USAs in her first National show- and first time in WPD- and placed 2nd. In 2021, she again placed 2nd at Jr. USAs, and was hungrier than ever for that win. Under the leadership of Coach Justin, she earned her IFBB Pro Card at the 2022 NPC North American Championships. Coach Justin & Coach Jess decided she would take her first extended offseason of her bodybuilding career, using that time to learn, grow, and bring her best package to date to the stage for her IFBB Pro debut in 2024. 

Jess now coaches competitive bodybuilders, crossfitters, endurance athletes and powerlifters, as well as everyday folks who just want to get in the best shape of their life or hit major strength milestones. As a Certified Glute Specialist, she’s taken clients from 100lb hip thrusts all the way to 600lbs! She’s coached CrossFit athletes to major PRs, and Ultra Marathon & endurance athletes to PB their race times by hours. Jess is passionate about winning, and knows what it takes to push past limitations, work harder than you ever believed possible, and achieve major goals- personal, professional, and physical. She prides herself on her versatility as a coach and is in constant pursuit of knowledge. Jess brings to the table- and to her clients- what she has learned in her former career, and as an athlete, and uses her own firsthand experience to teach her clients to overcome any obstacles and make smart, sound decisions about their health and fitness. 

Jess still trains a select few clients at Signature Fitness in Belleville, NJ, where she also helped to build the CrossFit program and regularly coaches classes.

ATHLETE EXPECTATION

  1. Honesty and Communication: The more information you provide, the better. Without the proper information, Coach Jess cannot do her job to the best of her ability! Be honest in your check-ins, ask questions, share the small details! The more information is exchanged, the better results we will see. 
  2. Hard Work & Effort: Follow your plan. Stick to your word. Be on time with check ins. Pursue your goals with 100% effort. And when the effort cannot be there, refer to point #1! Coach Jess gives her clients 100%, and expects the same in return. 
  3. Adaptable and Coachable: The saying goes, “The best laid plans can sometimes go awry.” We never plan for things to go wrong- but we do plan for things to change. Coach Jess asks her athletes to remain open to changes, be willing to adapt, and to be open to listening to feedback and receiving constructive criticism.
  4. Trust: Without trust between a Coach and Athlete, there can be no progress. Coach Jess asks that you trust the process, her coaching decisions, and that she will ultimately get you to your goal! If you remain coachable, give 100% effort, and communicate honestly, you can trust Jess to give you her all.
 
 

EXPECTATIONS OF JESS

Accountability: As she asks you to be honest, communicate openly, and give 100% effort, you can expect Coach Jess to hold you accountable to your plan and her coaching. Keeping you accountable is her job, and you can expect her to take that seriously and encourage you to stay on track- even on the hardest of days.

Honesty & Communication: We may not always sugar coat it, but you’re going to get honest answers and responses. You can expect Coach Jess to communicate in a direct, clear, and concise manner, to ensure nothing is lost in translation and both coach and athlete are on the same page. 

Hard Work & Effort: If you give Coach Jess 100% effort, you can expect the same in return! Her passion is coaching and seeing her clients succeed. 

Accessibility: Clients are given Coach Jess’s availability and can always expect a timely response to their check ins, inquiries, questions, and messages. Response times are even more prompt in the final weeks and days before a contest!

Continued Education: Coach Jess loves to learn, and it is her personal goal to be a top tier coach. You can expect her to constantly be seeking out knowledge and new information, and putting herself in positions to learn everything to be the best coach she can be. 

Attention to Detail: Details matter. Plain and simple. You can expect Coach Jess to be on top of the details- and constantly asking you about them!

Support and Positivity: Sure, things happen. But if you continue to give 100% effort, communicate honestly, and trust the process, you can expect Coach Jess to be your number 1 fan and supporter. She wants all of her clients to succeed, and nothing makes her happier than when a client wins, achieves their goal, or sees massive success. Even in the rare case things don’t go as planned, Coach Jess will always be there to help clients see the silver linings and find a way to keep moving forward.
